I grew up watching way too much Sesame Street, so I like numbers and letters and connecting them. I was trained from birth to spot the number 13 on a football player's back from a hundred yards. I don't know what I want to do with my life, I just know I want to grow up and be RuPaul. |
Obviously, this is an incomplete list.
- Paramour
- Significant Other/SO
- Genderfriend
- Lover
- Sweetie/Sweetheart
- Partner
- Cuddle buddy
- Soul mate
- Steady
- [name]friend
- Mate
- personfriend
I personally love “main squeeze.”
I will only ever say “sweetie” in a British accent per River Song.
I have been referring to my hypothetical eventual sweetie as “queerfriend,” as in when I have a queerfriend we can double date with my two fave married couples all the time and life will be wonderful.
I’m trying to imagine the reaction if I went around introducing/talking about my SO as my “soulmate” in casual conversation.
My mom and I are fond of “potential life partner.” Not necessarily always applicable, but hey. She also likes to refer to my SO as her “future ex-son-in-law,” so there’s that.
One of my friends in college refers to her dude as her “significant whatever.” This is my absolute favorite way of referring to someone.
^THIS. Been trying to think up similar words myself for ages but have never found a list.
means…the above.also,...boyfriends/girlfriends.[name]friendhi
Oh my god I love this, it’s so cute.
Sweetie is my favorite one to use.
Here’s another one: Permanent Sex Partner (a better PSP, not by Nintendo ;P)
list. I was trying to come up...we couldn’t think of nearly this many.
I think the term ‘plus-one’ could possibly work as well.
