I personally love “main squeeze.”
I will only ever say “sweetie” in a British accent per River Song.
I have been referring to my hypothetical eventual sweetie as “queerfriend,” as in when I have a queerfriend we can double date with my two fave married couples all the time and life will be wonderful.
I’m trying to imagine the reaction if I went around introducing/talking about my SO as my “soulmate” in casual conversation.
My mom and I are fond of “potential life partner.” Not necessarily always applicable, but hey. She also likes to refer to my SO as her “future ex-son-in-law,” so there’s that.
One of my friends in college refers to her dude as her “significant whatever.” This is my absolute favorite way of referring to someone.
Sweetie is my favorite one to use.
